Green under cord stump?! Is this normal??

So my babies stump fell off today, and it smells kinda bad, a bit poop like, and there’s this green goop left inside. Is it infected, or is this expected?

My sons didn’t look like that. Try cleaning with a q tip then sponge bath with water and soap. If no change, maybe an infection which the baby needs to be seen by the pediatrician

Just in case anyone else is dealing with same thing and came across my post. I went to see pediatrician and they said this is normal. It dried up by morning from this greenish stuff. But it kept oozing over next few days, so I took her in. They used silver nitrate to burn it off, but it could’ve also just healed up on its own doc said, it would just take longer.

Breast milk has white blood cells in it, you could try putting breast milk on it if it is infected. Previous poster is correct, no redness or discharge is a good sign. Also keep your eye out for a fever. If none of those are present you may be fine, I would just continue to watch it. Don’t stick anything like a q-tip or anything in there, that could introduce an infection.

My son's looked exactly like that.  A few hours later it had sealed up. There was no odor of redness which would be signs of infection.

Slight infection.  Can be common enough. My baby had it too. We got fucoden cream and saline

Clean with qtip with alcohol..itll help disinfect and dry it out so it'll heal
