32 weeker!
I was due Jan 26, 2020 with my baby boy. I quit my job at 30 almost 31 weeks pregnant because I knew I was going to be a stay at home mom. I quit so I would have the week of Thanksgiving and after off.
I had baby showers planned for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. My husband and I made the 5 hour drive to my parents' house for both showers. We had both showers and the following day I had an eye specialist appointment and then we were going to make the drive home.
The next morning, Dec. 2, I woke up at 1 am with cramping. I thought I had just overdone it over the weekend. The cramps just felt like period cramps to me (mine are always terrible). I stayed up and dealt with the cramping until my doctor's appointment scheduled around 9. We get to the doctor's office and I went to the bathroom. Went to sit down and felt like the baby was going to fall out. I just assumed he was changing positions at that exact moment. We are waiting on the doctor and the cramps are hurting and I feel like throwing up. My husband was getting worried that something was wrong. I told him I was fine. 😂 After the appointment we heqded back to my parents' house (about a 30 min drive). My husband said to call my mom because he thinks we need to go to the hosoital. She said to call my doctor's office. They didn't answer. 🙄
So, we head to an ER about 10 minutes away. They take me up to L&D and the nurse told me I probably just needed some fluids. She put a monitor on me and said that my cramps were actually contractions!
She checked me and got nervous. She said I was at least a 7 or an 8 and she thought she felt baby's head. She had another nurse check and she said the same thing. At 32+1 we were having a baby!
My husband told my parents to come ASAP. About 10 minutes later they had me in a room. Checked me again and I was a 10. Was able to get an epidural! They called for transport from a large hospital 2.5 hours away since this hospital didn't have a NICU. They gave me a steroid shot for his lungs.
They broke my water and let baby boy come on his own schedule. We arrived at the ER at 11. Baby was born at 2:59! He weighed 4 pounds 5 oz.
We then had a NICU journey that lasted 25 days! But baby is now home and doing wonderful!
