When do you guys plan on weaning from BF?

We’re 10 months in today and are talking about trying again after he’s a year old. I haven’t had a cycle since birth so I’ll more than likely have to wean before conceiving again. Any tips on how to deal with the engorgement?

I don’t plan to wean him, rather he’ll decide and I’ll follow his lead. Gonna break my heart the day he decides to stop though. 😭

If you do a slow transition you shouldn’t have to deal with any complications. I stopped recently and no issues. Just do a gradual wean. A feeding at a time

Personally for now I'm going to follow babes lead (will see how long we last lol!) but totally get why your not, day feeds are easier to start dropping, then you can look at nights - best way is to get your partner to wake with babe every time they wake for that feed (drop 1 at a time of you have more than one), then babe will get used to not having that feed after a few nights of it, maybe a week or so then go again for next feed. You just need some help, it's easier if someone else does it as baby can smell the milk on you and cry until they get it. If you drop one feed at a time you shouldn't have any engorgment problems good luck 💙 xx

I plan to stop pumping at work at 12 months with the hopes that they’ll continue to want to nurse in the mornings and evenings. I have such mixed emotions about it, but I HATE pumping so much.

Around 14/15 months or whenever I’m satisfied she’s eating enough in the day which definitely isn’t now 🙈 as most of it’s on the floor x

I weaned my other children by reducing one nursing session per month until it was down to just one time at night and then stopped that one as well. It was a 6 mo process. You can definitely do it faster. You can do the exact same thing but drop a feeding each week until you finally drop the last one. My first child responded very well and we had no issue with weaning. My second child was upset and tried to nurse even when no milk was left for an additional several months. This child will probably be allowed to self wean as he is my last child and I’m not in a particular hurry. If he is still nursing when he turns 2 I may feel differently. 🤷‍♀️

My girl is 10 months and we got the okay from our ped to start introducing milk. WELL found out she has an intolerance to cows milk. So now we do 2 oz of soy milk and 2 oz of breastmilk in her bottles and she’s doing SO well. So I am thinking she will be done nursing just a little bit before 1!
