The most perfect induction and birth 💙
I went in for my scheduled induction on Sunday February 2nd at 1200. I was a huge ball of nerves because as a NICU nurse, I see all of the bad outcomes and was so worried about everything that could go wrong 😭
We got settled in our room, I was already 4 cm dilated and contracting (couldn’t feel them) so they started pitocin! I knew from the start that I wanted an epidural ASAP so we got that put in at 1422 and it was MAGICAL. I could still feel my contractions at the very top of my uterus, but very mild and no pain at all. My OB came in at 1604 to break my water and try to get things moving. We were all really hoping for a 02/02/2020 birthday 😂 They rechecked me at 1900 and I was 5-6 cm and 90% effaced. I asked for the peanut ball to go between my legs to help me dilate faster, and she said she’d come back to check me at 2100. Well at 2030 the nurse said she wanted to check me a little early because our little guy was having early decels which can mean head compression (he’s low and ready to go!) so she checks me and she says yup, you’re complete!! I couldn’t believe how fast I progressed in 1.5 hrs! We were finally about to meet our miracle boy! They got me sitting up and went to call the doctor to come in for delivery. I got very nauseous all of a sudden and vomited once, but they said that’s normal for the transitional labor phase. Once my doctor got there, I pushed for 10 minutes and out popped the most beautiful and perfect little angel boy I’ve ever seen 😭😩🥰 he had a loose nuchal cord and his heart rate dropped right before he came out, so it took a little while for him to cry and turn pink, but he eventually did and had no issues!! They even let me assign his Apgar scores since I’m a NICU nurse lol My perineum didn’t tear, I only have small periurethral tears that she described more as “skid marks” and a vaginal wall tear that only needed 1 stitch. Nothing the good ole squeeze water bottle didn’t help 🤪
He instantly latched and has been nursing like a champ. We were discharged home Tuesday morning and have been in heaven since then 🥰 enjoy a few pictures of the best days of my life!!
