Birth Control Pills

Hey everyone! I’m considering taking birth control pills for the first time so here’s my situation. My boyfriend currently lives in Texas and I live in Puerto Rico, we’ve been having a long distance relationship for quite a few months already and have been considering taking the BC Pills for a while now. So here’s my question: if I don’t have sex daily with him or even often, it’s every few months, do I still need to take the Birth Control Pills daily? Or do I start taking it weeks before he comes here or I go there and stop and repeat the process? Thanks for the help and tips in advance.
