Should I ask my roommate to turn off his space heater when he leaves?

My brother has been staying with me for quite a while. He pays one third of the rent (nothing else)  . Every time I put a package on his bed, his space heater is on even when he’s gone for the weekend.  The dte is already 200+ a month and isn’t that a fire hazard? Should I tell him to turn it off or is that kinda rude

Yes. That’s a fire hazard. It usually says do not leave on if unattended on the actual heater. Not to mention it will jack up the electric bill.

Tell him to turn it off. It's a hazard first and foremost. If he cant turn it off, he cant have it. I'd rather him use an extra blanket than for him to burn the house down. Then theres the electricity bill on top of that. Tell him to turn that shit off.

Tell him to turn it off. That and then in the summer AC’s add up $$$. And yes it’s a fire hazard too. Also maybe if he’s contributing to rent and utilities come to an agreement on the heat in general and maybe he won’t need to use it

Don’t tell him just turn it off 🤷🏼‍♀️ We have space heaters and I turn them all off each morning while we’re at work and school. It’s a fire hazard and will rack your bill up.
