Health visitor made me feel shit again!

Laura

Hey! Saw the health visitor yesterday to get my 11 month old weighed.. he was fine and weighed normal.

However I asked about feeding at night time as my son has started to wake around 3/4am screaming (for the last month) the only way I can calm him down is to give him some milk - he absolutely guzzles 5oz easily and is clearly hungry! He normally takes about an hour to get back to sleep which is exhausting!

Anyway the health visitor said at his age I shouldn't be giving him formula at night?!! And that he should be going back to sleep on his own!!

I'm so confused on what to do as I feel like I have created bad habits already with him and not sure how to tackle him waking every night and getting him to self settle (bad habits- he likes to be cuddled, I give him milk when hes upset during the night, I occasionally lie him in our bed to settle him, I rock him in my arms, he has a dummy!)

He has been teething so this might be the issue, he has been given calpol most nights recently as top tooth is pking through.

Also is anyone else dealing with attachment issues.. he is very aware when we leave his bedroom and gets upset!

Please reassure me that someone is going through this with their 11 month old. I literally cried walking out of the health visitor yesterday as I feel like I'm doing everything the wrong way! :(
