Baby weight at 38 weeks?

Had my 38 weeks scan today, baby’s weight is 3.4 kg (about 7.5 pounds). Does this mean he is going to be HUGE at birth? I’m 2 cm dilated and effaced already, so I’m hoping it will happen soon

No. Scans are just estimates. They are often off by more than 1 lb. also. Even if the baby is that weight and grows another two weeks, he’s still not huge. My daughter was 7lb 11oz and wasn’t considered big.

7.8 is a dead average weight for baby. And yes, the US weight can be up to a pound off in either direction. Try not to stress mama.

My estimate at 37 weeks is 9 lbs 10oz....it’s stressing me out because my other kids were not this big so I’m really hoping they are wrong.
