Mia’s Birth Story
This is my second daughter. My first one, Luna,
is 3 years old.
On February 4th, 2020 I went to my OB for my 40 week check up. Mia passed the NST with flying colors. Then came the ultrasound to see if she had enough fluid. The answer was no. I was told that I would be induced that very morning. I went to get Steven and we were admitted to the hospital at around 10:30. Since I was already 1-2 cm dilated the doctor decided to start me on Pitocin. My dose was upped 2 milliunits every 30 minutes. Before we knew I was at the max dosage and no contractions. Do it was decided I would they would placed cervidil inside me overnight.
In February 5th at around 7 a.m the doctors took the cervidil out and started Pitocin once again. This time I started having mild contractions but again I maxed out the dosage and only dialated to 3 cm. So that evening it was decided that I would have Cytotec inserted in my every 3 hours overnight. This started at 6:30 pm.
On February 6th at 3 am I started having mild contractions that got intense. At 7 am i was 4 cm and I got my epidural! From then on I only experience butt crack pain when the contractions hit. At 8:30 I was fully dilated. We started pushing at 9 am. I learned that I had to push as if I was pooping and oh man was it intense. I felt like I was ripping my butt whole. The nurse was amazing directing me and letting me know how close she was. The doctor rupture my membranes shortly after. I started grunting and screaming. The doctors were talking about giving me an episiotomy and I scream mid push “Noooooo”. Mias head started emerging and oh man that ring of fire is a real thing. Her head was half out for a minute and I thought I was going to die. Haha she was out with the next push. It was beyond amazing. I would do that all over again. I had a first degree laceration that needed one stitch but I decline it. I can’t get over it!
