Massage 4 weeks pregnant?

Hi! Just found out I'm pregnant this morning :) I also am scheduled for a massage today. Is it safe to have a massage this early in pregnancy?

Nope. Not a good idea, massage this early can cause a miscarriage.  Most places won’t do it because they don’t want the blame if something happens after.  It’s up to you if you tell them or not, but if you don’t you can’t be upset with them if things don’t work out.  If you do tell them they will likely cancel your appointment. I’ve heard that saying on the shoulder is ok, but I don’t know if that’s true.

Tell them you are expecting! There are just certain pressure points they will avoid! Enjoy! Massages during pregnancy will be amazing.

My midwife had no issue with me continuing my massages the entire time. I also basically can’t move if I don’t get certain muscles beaten into submission on a regular basis, especially since I couldn’t do steroid epidurals while pregnant. It makes sense to speak to your provider to determine the best course of action for you.

Most places won’t this early .. they also won’t if you’re high risk. I was high risk with my daughter and my mom was going to get me a pregnancy massage & they refused. Just because of that I’m weary of them.

Most places won't do massage treatments on anyone under 12 weeks. I'd give them a call and find out their policy for it and see if you can rebook for after your 12 week

Every place I’ve ever been to has said they will not do a message on a woman who is less than 12 weeks pregnant. I don’t know the research on that, but I’d be hesitant

I have gone my whole pregnancy. It’s just important you let them know you’re pregnant. There are certain therapists that are trained for prenatal massage. My doc said I could have normal massages until I couldn’t lay on my belly anymore. The massage place had different rules and I think after 12 weeks they made me do prenatal where you lay on your side instead of your tummy. Get that massage girl. You deserve it!

Of course. I’m 29 weeks today and I get a massage once a week. As your belly grows bigger it will be uncomfortable to lay on your stomach but then toy can change positions- now I spend the first half sitting and second half laying propped up.
