Medicine that’s safe to take when breastfeeding?

What is the best medicine to take for colds while breastfeeding? I read a lot of meds can either reduce milk supply or affect baby. TIA

I don’t think you can take much other than regular Tylenol or Advil. I don’t even think you can take Tylenol cold and flu or anything like that... but to know for sure I would call your dr or pharmacy. Sometimes the pharmacist can answer questions like that over the phone.

Avoid anything that has a decongestant, that could temporarily impact supply.

Your OB should have a whole list of medications that are safe during pregnancy. Mine had it up on their website for easy access and it was posted in my patient portal in the messages section.

I'd just stick to Tylenol or Advil if you don't want to risk your supply. Kinda sucks but 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also use Halls cough drops & drink tea with honey. If you have a humidifier, that may help too.

I took zicam at the first sign of a cold, and I'd take vitamin c packets mixed into coconut water, I took my daily vitamin b-complex, and vitamin D. I made sure to eat really well and drank plenty of fluids, didn't get end up getting fully sick. Diffusing peppermint oil helped me with stuffiness as well.
