Did NHS offer you gestational diabetes test?

My midwife told me that I am not going to have one because I am not at risk.. i am a bit confused and stressed as I was thinking they always check it...

They will only check if you meet the following criteria:
- parent with type 2
- High bmi 
- you’re black or Asian 
- if you’re urine shows proteins at midwife appointments 
- possibly if you start measuring large (fundal measurement)
But i think it must actually be undiagnosed in a lot of women!

I was tested due to PCOS and my sister having GD with all 3 of her pregnancies. A few girlfriends that have been/are pregnant haven’t been tested x

it all depends on circumstances if you have close relatives such as your mum/dad with diabetes are overweight or have high glucose in your urine  etc you will get one but other than that you usually dont

I told her I didn’t want it it made me extremely ill woth my son and I had to be admitted to hospital for a few days after , but because I’m high risk on 5 different things I’ve got to have it again

It depends where you live I was booked in in Sheffield where they don’t offer it if you’re not at risk I moved further south and they do the full test as a matter of course xx

Its targeted but they will always check your urine for glucose during every contact

I was only checked as my bmi was literally just over their threshold.

I’ve been offered one. I’m not sure if it’s standard procedure or not?! I’m a first time mum. No family history of pregnancy diabetes 🤔

Nope, as far as I know they only check it if you're at risk. I was checked in my first pregnancy because of my mums history but didnt get checked in my second pregnancy.
