Should delivery drivers have to pay an extra premium to work?

So, I saw this and wanted people’s opinions.
Should drivers have to pay an extra premium to do their jobs when they already get paid minimum wage?

I dont know how he didnt know, unless he didnt read the policy. I also have USAA and it does explicitly state coverages may not be applied for accidents occurring during ridesharing or food delivery, you have to add seperate business coverage.  It sucks for him, but I dont see how this is unfair

I don’t see he issue 🤷🏼‍♀️. He was using his vehicle for business, he needs business insurance. That’s just how things work.

I dont remember what company it was, but i looked at a Uber/Door Dash term before and it did say that drivers need extra insurance. My car insurance policy also states it does not cover in events like that. 
Youre using your car to work. That means youre driving more, so you're more likely to be in an accident. So yes, they should pay more.

My insurance premium is insane. I can barely keep up and then the more times it lapses the higher it gets. 
I can’t imagine JUST BECAUSE they make $7.25 an hour that they suddenly can afford it

I don't see it as paying a premium just to do their job. They are using their private vehicle for business and must pay for the appropriate insurance to perform business from their vehicle. That's the cost of doing business. The nature of how they use their vehicle changes. Ignorance of rules is not an appropriate defense. It's common sense. When you sign up for insurance, they ask you how you will be using the vehicle. If that changes , you are required to update them.

I mean yea. I used to do deliveries. Anytime you use your vehicle for business use, you have to insure it as such.

Very common knowledge in the uk. When you take the policy out, you tell them if it's social and pleasure, sp&c or all the above plus business

Yes. Commercial driving on regular insurance leads to more claims, thus higher rates for the 95% of us that don’t drive commercially.
