What do I do? Need advice. Please don't judge.
Hey ladies I need some serious advice on getting a job!
Didn't know where to post this, but figured it falls under "lifestyle"
Background on me;
I'm 22 and still live at home. I graduated college in May. I did work study for a year in college, but didn't have a "real" job as I was fortunate enough to have my parents pay for things. I still have student loans, took grants and scholarships, etc to pay for college. But extras like books, food (didn't have a meal plan since I have food allergies so I had to pay out of pocket for food) were paid for by my parents. I used most of my work study money to pay for food. I figured once I graduated and became certified in my field, I would get a job. Well my mother took a fall 2 weeks before I graduated and got a "small TBI" as one of the doctors put it, it's been hard to get diagnoses for her. She was passing out at random for a bit. She can barely remember to feed herself, nevertheless the dogs, cats, taking care of the house etc. So I've been taking care of her, the animals, and the house since being home. My mom is now established in her Dr's and getting treatment and we're looking up🤞🏼🤞🏼.
I also don't have a license. I live in the boondocks and never needed a license in high school or college. Plus we've always been a one car family so even with my license I wouldn't have been able to take the car anywhere. So to me it seemed dumb. Plus my parents didn't want to pay for the extra insurance when I'd rarely drive anyway.
What I need advice on:
I need a job. I'm 22, I need to get a job so I can eventually leave home and have money of my own. I still don't have my license, but do have a permit. And we still are a one car family. But I don't know how to get to a job. I live in the middle of nowhere, so walking is far. Our downtown is a 50 minute walk. Next nearest town is 1 hour 40 minutes walk but much more dangerous roads to walk (blind corners, wooded so it's always dark), and the 3rd nearest is 2 hours 30 minutes walk. My step father works an early second shift so our schedules would definitely over lap and not match up as he works and odd shift. My mom can't drive due to the brain issues so she can't be a taxi and drive the car home between our shifts and pick us up.
We don't live near any family who could take me to work. We aren't close with any neighbors. (In fact most dislike us but that's a loooong story).
What would you do? Any advice?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
And before anyone says "you should've just gotten your license when you were 16" or something of the sorts, remember that everyone's story is different and this is a very VERY condensed version of MY story. Plus I can't go back in time and change it. I wish I could right now as it'd make my life easier. But I can't. So I need advice on my current situation, not a what if situation.
