I wanted a good conversation and this is something I've been thinking about for a while. So for example, my MIL is in an abusive relationship, she's been with him since she was about 13 and she's now 40 I believe. The other day, she told me that she's not sure why God does some of the things he does but it's for a reason. She has chosen to be with her husband who has hit her, verbally and emotionally abused her for so long. She recently had a back surgery and still has to do all the chores for him. Let me say, they are in a Mexican culture as well so this stuff is more acceptable for the older generations. My belief is that she's had her own choices and it's not necessarily God chosing these things for her. So, in general, regarding the population, do you believe that God has become a scapegoat for people's personal issues?
