Half and half! We give him a plate/bowl and spoon or spork and he does try, but usually gives up and shovels it in with his hands!

If I put stuff on a fork or spoon and pass it, he can typically get it in his mouth no problem. But I don't even give him his plate because he'll just throw everything lol.

I haven't even tried, tbh. My son has done BLW and eaten on his own since 6 months. He hated when I'd try to feed him with a utensil. I'm not even sure he really knows what a utensil is since he wouldn't let me spoon feed him!
My first was the same exact way. I honestly can't remember when I started giving him utensils and letting him figure it out. I do know my first was drinking out of an open cup and had been for a while at this age, while it's something my September baby isn't ready for.

I said yes. We recently introduced utensils and my son does surprisingly well. He still eats with his hands sometimes. He does like to chew on this plastic spoons and forks. He does like to flip his spoon upside down right as he gets it to his mouth! So he ends up getting a lot of food in his lap sometimes!

50/50 she will try when I give them to her but ultimately uses her hands because it’s easier for her.
