Waking two week old to feed at night?

Question

My son takes both formula and breastmilk (expressed due to problems in hospital). Do I wake him to feed at night or do I just wait for him to wake up and cry? He has been waking up every two/three hours or so anyways but there have been occasions where if I let him sleep it’ll be 3+ hours. Do I wake him to feed or just leave it until he’s ready??

Until they reach birth weight or gain enough per pediatrician you continue to wake every 2-3 hrs tops.  When ped gives okay then you can start letting them sleep and wake you when they're hungry

If he’s gaining weight and not jaundiced, I think he’s fine to let sleep.

My daughter was initially slow to gain, we were told to wake her every 3 hours. After she got back to her birth weight and was gaining normally, we were told it was ok to let her go 4 to 4.5 hours, but no more than that. She's currently 6 weeks and I'm hoping at her 2 month appt we get the ok to let her tell us cuz though she normally wakes around 3/4 hours, occasionally I have to wake her and man would it be nice to sleep! Lol

I woke my baby up every 3 hours if he hadn’t woken me up by then, until he got back to his birth weight and the ped gave me the go ahead to let him  be the boss of when he ate and how much he ate.
