There is nothing wrong with complimenting people. It is ok for him yo compliment others and for you. If your talking about flirting that that is different. If you aren't ok with him flirting than you shouldn't be doing it either. If this isn't something you can agree on you may not be compatible but you can't tell him how he can and can not talk to others and he can't do the same with you. If you are just talking about regular compliments than the whole argument sounds a little immature to me.

Theres a difference between giving people genuine compliments and flirting. If he is trying to excuse him blatantly flirting with other girls because he can't be bothered to be faithful, then maybe you need to reconsider this relationship.
