It depends. One set of grandparents died of old age but were able to stay with my aunt and uncle until they passed because they were mentally healthy and safe. My other set had to go to the nursing home because she had Alzheimer’s and it wasn’t safe for her to be home. That’s why it depends on the situation. I’d let them live with me if it were safe for them to do so.

My mom is in a nursing home with advanced Alzheimer's disease at 64... my dad has a wife 15 years younger than him so I'm hoping he will fair just fine 😂

personally? no. but we would probably hire an in-home caretaker (or nurse if needed) for him. when my grandparents got old we got them an apartment with their own caretaker so they could still have some independence. i plan to do the same with my dad, especially as he wants to retire to hawaii and i can't stand the heat lol.

It depends. If I was sure it would be good for me to handle, like if my mom were say just old and needed assistance with taking meds, getting to the restroom, cleaning herself etc. Then heck yeah I'd have her with me at home, but if it were to the point where she may wander off and be a danger to herself and others, then I'd probably keep her in a home or her home with nurses on her 24/7. But I'd never give up my mom, no matter how crazy shed get lol. My dad on the other hand, already went crazy and moved across the nation to be by himself. I wouldn't take care of him if you paid me because of how awful hes been and how many crimes hes committed to our family in a short amount of time.

I’ll take care of my dad, but I don’t have a good relationship with my mom.  Also, they have plenty of money to take care of themselves, they won’t be reliant on me for anything finance-wise.

My older sister and I have worked in many facilities. We will never put our parents through any of t that bs. We both agreed that they would stay with her if she’s able or they will be with me if I’m able. We both would take care of them regardless of how much work it is. Our little sister is a huge germophobe so that’s why it’d only be us two, but assisted living and memory care facilities will not be the way to go. There are too many people we have reported to APS for elder abuse.
