Did speech therapy help your 3 year old how to talk?

I’m feeling useless at this point I’m trying to teach him animals, he knows the sounds they make but for the life of him he can’t pronounce what they are, he can’t count no matter how many times I show or teach him, I just feel like I’m not doing a good enough job to teach him..
So his doctor is gonna set up an appointment for speech therapy, I wanted to know how that process went for you guys and if that helped with your little ones to speak? And if it did work how long was it till they could actually talk after?

It likely has nothing to do with what you are trying to teach him so don’t feel you are failing!
Some kids have issues speaking due to a variety of reasons - oral motor skills, muscle tone, genetic disorders that affect transmission of thoughts to words, and more.
Def get a speech assessment and they’ll be able to see which areas are an issue.
Does he have any other delays? Issues with food texture?

My son was the same, at 3.5 i put him in preschool(mind you he couldnt even say a two word sentence), took him almost 6 months before i could see some improvements, and now at almost 5 i can’t get him to keep quiet. My point is dont stress out, use all and every help you can get and try and get him to spend more time around other kids

My son was in speech therapy. He had recurring ear infections and required 3 sets of tubes by the time he was 3 so had issues with his hearing. He didn’t speak even a single word until he was 18 months old. He started speech therapy at that time and “graduated” from the program in kindergarten (age 6). He’s now 10 and has absolutely no problems with his speech, reading, or writing.

There’s a YouTube podcast I’ve watched that has some really good info on speech therapy in toddlers, the channel is teachmetotalk. She goes through what kinds of things to expect from speech therapy as well as what kinds of at home activities she recommends to parents. I haven’t done speech therapy with my son, but the tips are helpful for anyone.

My sister put my nephew in speech therapy at the suggestion of his preschool teacher and it has helped him so much. He used to not talk to anyone but his mom and brother because he didn’t want to repeat himself but now he will have full conversations with my parents and sometimes with me (but according to him I’m gross right now because I’m having a baby, so he avoids me lol). I think it was great for him.

So I have two girls and got speech therapy for both of them. 
My 3 year old is now in school full time and she talks a lot . She started taking in full sentences and clearly after one year of therapy. 
My 2 year old is currently getting speech therapy 5 times a week for 30 mins each day. 
When we started, she didn’t even have one word in her vocabulary. Not even animal sounds. 
It’s going to be a year this April I believe and even tho she still isn’t talking in full sentences, she is trying. She has a few words now that she says. She counts , she says the alphabet, and she has a few basic words . 
The fact that he knows the animal sounds is good. You should definitely get him therapy, over the 2 years I’ve been seeing therapists for my children I’ve learned the steps and animal sounds is the first thing a child will learn then the names. 
You should go for it and give him a few months - a year and you’ll see a big difference. 
Also, find out if your city offers 3k. 
If he goes to 3k the therapists he needs will come to his school and do the sessions there instead of coming to the house. 
My point is therapy has helped both my kids in a positive way and I’d recommend it to any parent whose child is having speech delay

Im in  canada so the process is a bit different i assume(depending on where u live) but we did early learning which is basically pre school but focused on speech and it helped tremendously
