Kyleena Effective Immediately?

It’s currently the 7th day of my menstrual cycle and I just got Kyleena inserted this morning. This is the day I would usually start my next pill pack. Everything I read online says if you get Kyleena w/in the first 7 days of your menstrual cycle it’s effective immediately, but my doctor told me to use a backup method. Is the IUD not effective right now? I don’t want to have to use a condom on Valentines Day :/

The iud isn't effective till after two weeks is what my doctor told me

Its effective after day 7 like allothermethods of hormonal birth control. I had sex on day 8 of mirena and didnt get pregnant.

It supposedly is not useful until the 10th day after having it inserted. My doctor told me to use other form of contraceptive until then :)

I was told to use a backup method when I got the Kyleena.
