Teens’ Amazing Race Ideas

Ami

So I’m not exactly sure where to post this, but I thought I would at least try!

I am in charge of an “Amazing Race” type game at the summer retreat we take our church youth group on in July (7th-12th grades). I am trying to get a head start on the planning aspect of it since I am due in May with my first baby.

So things I am needing help with:

1. Naming of locations

There are 9-10 different locations throughout our campgrounds that students go to. Part of the challenge is them figuring out where to go, so it’s not just “the pond”, “the tent,” etc. In the past we have given the locations Biblical people’s names (Ruth, Mary, Moses, etc) or Biblical locations (Mt. Sinai, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, etc). Any other ideas for themes we could use? It doesn’t have to be biblical, but that’s what we figure they would all have knowledge of.

We also include riddles, Bible verses, or hints to get them to their next place (Ex: This person parted the Red Sea.) Any ideas for those?

2. Games/Challenges

We like to do a variety of athletic, gross, and mind challenges. We have done so many things in the past from covering someone in whipped cream and rinsing it off with waterguns to fishing sardines out of pudding with toes to crosswords/word searches/puzzles, to relay races, slingshotting, etc.

I am always looking for fun new games! I have searched Pinterest and other places online but thought I would see if anyone had anything new.

There are usually 9-15 kids per team, and we like to include everyone in most games, but some can be something just a few have to do.

We can do water games since it is usually in the 80s at least (most times warmer).

Thank you so much for any ideas you throw my way! It is much appreciated!
