Tips for flying with kids?!

I have a 2.5 yr old and a 6 month old. We haven’t taken any trips with them yet - my husband and I have been too afraid lol! We just started to plan a trip to North Carolina (from California). Any tips about flying with them would be appreciated! Also, do we bring car seats with us? We are planning on renting a car when we are there.

And like the other posters said, bring the usual things to keep them distracted like a toy or a book to read to them. And snacks. If you can bring the stroller on the flight with you that makes things easier in the airport. And car rental agency’s I believe provide car seats if needed.

Lots of car rentals will include them free of charge, so check that. They also are free of charge to fly with so 🤷🏻‍♀️ 
Download movies for your 2yr old, and bring snacks. Nursing or giving a bottle to the baby during take off and landing helps relieve ear pressure. Good luck!

You bring car seats with you. Buy a seat for the little one, too, and just have them sit in their seats during the flight. It is much easier not having to hold the baby the whole time.  You also don’t have to worry about them getting damaged like you do if you check them. Bring the stroller through security and gate check it so you have a containment system in the airport. Check all your stuff except a personal item. The lighter the better so you aren’t wrestling kids and seats and bags. Have them drink from bottles or sippy cups during takeoff to help their ears. Bring a novel toy or two to entertain them, and don’t be afraid to walk up and down the aisle if they need a break from siting. Don’t plan to squeeze too much into each day. Pick a single thing to do each day and work the rest in around that as necessary. Have fun and enjoy and relax!
