Can i eat ceviche?!

I have a serious craving for fish ceviche from a bomb legit Mexican place in town. Can I eat it ?!  😬

I think it’s fine! I read a great book called expecting better and it says you’re actually not at any more of a risk of getting food poisoning from raw fish/sushi than you were before you were pregnant. Salmonella would be the worry with raw fish. You’re not any more likely to get salmonella or E.coli when you’re pregnant, but you are much more likely to get toxoplasmosis and listeria when you’re pregnant, which is why you have to be more concerned with foods with those particular risks. If it’s a place you trust and have been before I’m sure it’s fine!!!

There is no risk of listeria or toxoplasmosis from raw fish, which is the stuff that can hurt a fetus. As long as you’re eating good quality fish, the odds of getting food poisoning are low, and even if you do get food poisoning, it won’t hurt the baby. I eat sushi and ceviche fairly regularly while pregnant, but I’m only eating it from places that I trust. I.e., no sketchy hole in the wall or gas station sushi!

If it’s at a nice place I wouldn’t worry about it.  The risk from raw fish is pretty low as long as you’re getting it from somewhere safe.  Just don’t eat it every day

I didn't even know ceviche was raw fish😵 hubby makes it every now and then and just uses cooked shrimp
