Feeling guilty about breastfeeding

My husband is so supportive of me exclusively breastfeeding our daughter but here lately I have felt guilty about it. I feel like I’m keeping him from bonding with her because she doesn’t use bottles. Or I’m keeping him from experiencing that part of being a parent. Does anyone else feel like this or is it my crazy postpartum hormones talking? I’m definitely not against using bottles but her latch is so good and she’s a great eater. I just don’t want to mess her up.

Don't feel guilty! There are many other things your husband can do to bond with baby (bathing, changing diapers, burping and settling to sleep). If baby is latching on well then why mess that up, unless you anticipate you'll be going somewhere soon without the baby and that'll require baby to take a bottle.

The longer you wait to introduce a bottle, the more likely it will be that she won't take it. I promise giving one bottle a day will not mess with her breastfeeding. But if you ever want to be able to leave her with someone for more than 2 hours in the next year, you should introduce a bottle now.

This! Don't wait too long to give the bottle if you're thinking about it. Also eventually you may want her to take the bottle so you can get a break :)

I usually let my husband bottle feed her with expressed milk once a day. We started early with this because she’s going into daycare so was important that she learn to take a bottle. Some bottles are good about making nipples that more closely resemble breast/nipple shape abs start with a low flow nipple. She took to the Aventurine ones right away so that’s what we’ve been using. Took about a week for her to get used to both... would sometimes get frustrated trying to latch on me but I’d say after a week or so she got over that and now goes back and forth without any issues

My partner gives my girl a bottle of expressed milk the first time she wakes at night so I can get 5-6 continuous hours of sleep. My supply is fine! And I’m happy knowing she takes bottles.
