Uppababy Mesa car seat

So I currently have the Mesa car seat. I am afraid to take baby alone in car with me because when I sit in back with her I notice her head completely goes forward and I am scared of airway obstruction if no one is back there to correct

Does anyone have this seat or adjustment advice?

How old is baby? The car seat should come with inserts to help. Also, you may need to adjust the incline. My daughter is 10 months old, and her head slumps in her convertible seat. For her, it’s okay. She is old enough to have excellent head control, and she knows if she can’t breathe, to move her head. It baby is older and has strong neck muscles, there is virtually no risk. If baby is younger, please use the inserts provided by the manufacturer. Read the manual. ONLY use items provided by the manufacturer. Please do not use any aftermarket items. These accessories are not tests for safety. ❤️

It’s likely the incline then. Make sure you follow the instructions very throughly. I know for rear facing on my car seat, the proper recline setting is like 1-3.

She is 2 months and 12 lbs too big for the infant insert

Same comment about the base, but ALSO make sure the straps are tight enough. My babies head would almost do this (in the correct incline) when the straps werent quite tight enough . Should only be able to stick two fingers underneath the chest clip. I found it helped keep her more upright if done properly !

Looks like you need to fix the base so baby’s laying down

I circled the button on the top and the part I’m referring to as the wedge for reference here. Make sure all the indicators, one on each side and one on the top are 100% green, if you see even a sliver of red. It’s not installed properly.

I would still try making the wedge bigger and see if that helps the angle.

It looks like your base might not be properly installed. The seat isn’t reclined back enough. The wedge part of the base is adjustable, I would try making that wedge fatter so the seat will sit in a more reclined position. I have this car seat and we used it for 8 months and my daughter never looked like that. There is a great button on the top of the base above the window that green/red depending on if it’s installed correctly. It allows you to adjust the wedge height. I always had to have it at its max in my car because the actual seat of my car tilts slightly back, whereas in my husbands truck the wedge was much shorter cause his seat is flat.

It’s a grey button, not a great button, thank you auto correct.
