Really bad eating habits idk what to do!!
Ok.. firstly please don’t judge.
I am 6 months pregnant. This is NOT about me.
My husband doesn’t seem to know how to stop eating.
He CONSTANTLY shovels food down his throat. When I say constantly I mean practically the minute he finishes a meal - he’s into the next thing.
1) he is not depressed and does not have anxiety etc... he’s been cleared for this, and is good at communicating etc he too doesn’t think or feel he’s depressed.
2)he has no symptoms for things like under active thyroid and medical conditions like that.
But....
He has (as an example from last weekend)
X3 slices of toast with chocolate spread
A Big Mac burger large chips 6 chicken nuggets and a coke + 2 chicken nuggets and left over fries from our 2 year olds McDonald’s.
X3 packs of crisps
Mounted to the max plate of tea as his evening meal
1 small pack of crisps
3 (I shit u not) THREE MASSIVE share bags of Doritos or crisps
Then still wants more food.
I am pregnant n even I can’t eat that much! I have told him how unhealthy it is and he has to stop eating so much junk (he also only drinks redbull or cola)...
he doesn’t listen to me, he accepts he’s eating loads of crap but doesn’t care he’s doing it and still says “I’m going to go n get some munch” etc EVERY SINGLE day.
No matter how many times I’ve tried to stop him - it doesn’t work. He will still just go to the shop n get it or go down n do it. He’s a 37 year old fully grown man... it’s his life n I don’t mind a bit of a chubby hubby but what I do mind is he is 5 stone heavier than me... I am 6 months pregnant he is also a whole foot taller than me, sex is becoming difficult due to the bump but also because of his weight - I genuinely feel I’m suffocating sometimes n we have to switch positions. Nobody has criticised his weight or anything like that to him either - and I haven’t said it for appearance reasons I’m just concerned for his health, heart attacks etc considering they run in his family big time..
If the stuff he ate was fruit or veg I would not be posting this. I know some men have sympathy symptoms - but I feel this is ridiculous. Out of control and almost food obsessed - I have explained the biology sides to him and all sorts - nothing. Sometimes it makes me feel physically sick to watch or even hear him constantly talking about food because it’s as if it’s a thrill!
I can barely manage 3 full meals a day!!
Why I am asking, is has anyone personally had any experience with this? Themselves or a their loved ones? What could it be? What can I do to help it? I don’t want him unhealthy and dying young due to obesity or heart attacks etc when we have a 2 year old and a baby due soon.
