Myomectomy surgery?? Risks??

I have a fibroid (intramural) that is seemingly  pushing on uterine cavity distorting it (according to HSG and MRI images). Surgeon recommends myomectomy before conceiving/IVF... surgery scares me. What if something happens to my uterus?! Anyone have experience with this surgery? It’s supposedly common...but I’m so scared and not sure if I should go through with it or not? My fibroid is on top of uterus, embryo doesn’t implant there anyway right??!!

Hey Melissa. I’m a scrub tech. I work in surgery (set up the sterile field, assist the surgeon, etc). I’ve done a number of myomectomies. Although I work in a trauma center, so our myomectomies tend to be on the more extreme side then what might be done in office or a surgery center. 
They are relatively straightforward procedures. Myomas tend to come out pretty easy! You should speak to your surgeon and see if they can give you more information (what their surgical plan for you would be, should you decide to go for it). Good luck! I hope it goes well if you go for the surgical route! I love surgery, I love what I do, and I love helping people in a way that many people can’t.

I did! I had cramping the first day but after that it was fine. Recovery was super quick. I was pregnant two months after. I’m so happy that I did it, otherwise I wouldn’t have my baby girl. 😊

I had this done before IVF. It wasn't bad at all. First day home I cramped a bit but after that everything was back to normal. Currently 11 weeks pregnant.
