Where to start

So my daughter is 2 and a half and I would like to start potty training. We have been on and off with the pull up and she’s only ever peed and pooped in the potty one time each. I have no clue if she is ready to start because when we talk about it she says she hates her potty. She only sits for about 30 seconds and is over it. She doesn’t wake up dry or almost dry she’s soaking wet. I don’t know if we are ready for this or not.

No need to force it on her until she’s ready. It sounds like you want to potty train her for yourself because she’s a certain age. But you’re not taking her readiness into the equation. With my son, he was just a little over 3 years old when he decided he was ready. And wouldn’t you know it, potty trained in 1 day. He was motivated and we created a sticker board to reward him. Since then (it’s been 8 months) he’s had ONE accident. My friend kinda sorta forced her son to potty train right round 2.5-3 months and he took about 6 months before he stopped having accidents once every couple of days. He hated the potty and when he’d have accidents he would say he couldn’t hold it in. I’m not saying this will be your case- just that if they can’t hold it in or they hate the potty and will only sit on it in short amounts of time, then it will be a longer struggle than necessary. Good luck!

It won’t hurt to wait a few more months. If a child is truly ready, potty training shouldn’t take very long. I tried at 2.5 years old with my first daughter and she definitely wasn’t ready. I tried again closer to 3 and she was ready. It was like night and day and much easier. Being wet at night doesn’t mean much in terms of potty training. They’re usually not ready to night train until they’re older anyway and know their bodies better.
