Better response to “Do you have a name yet?!”
My husband and I have really struggled with naming our first kiddo (boys’ names are so hard!), but we are 98% sure we finally landed on one. I get asked about whether we have a name picked out at least once a day by someone, and my answer has been “Nope, we have a couple top contenders but aren’t 100% set. We probably won’t know until he’s born.” That’s usually met with some understanding nods, but also gets a billion suggestions and opinions. My husband’s approach has apparently been a far more direct “Yep, we are pretty sure we know his name but aren’t telling anyone until he’s born.” He doesn’t have to deal with anyone offering suggestions or asking what our top choices are, but it’s definitely more blunt.
I’m curious - which approach do you think is better? Obviously it’s our choice when to tell people and all of that; I’m more just curious about whether you all have a preference for one tactic compared to the other.
