Contractions like bad period cramps?

I have been having contractions since yesterday around 3pm. They are more like bad period cramps. I woke up today in the same state. I am just waiting for it to progress and go into labor but it seems to be staying the same. I have a lot of pressure down there. How long did you have these types of contractions until the real deal started?
