Paying to go to work!

Be

So I just got an awesome new job as a teacher at a child care center. I start in March.

Right now and for the past year, I've been a stay at home mom. I have 2 year old girl and 6 month old boy. My husband and I struggle. I have Medicaid and so do the kids. We also get WIC. I had cancer in the past so having health insurance is something I can NOT go without.

When I start this job making $13 an hour 40 hours a week, after taxes I'll make $488 a week. If I put them in the daycare I'll be working at, it'll be $199 a week for my daughter and $255 for my son. Which means I'll literally be paying to go to work. I wouldn't even get a paycheck! Not to mention, I'll lose my benefits including my health insurance and the help for my son's formula which costs $30 a can and he goes through one every 2 days. That's $450 a MONTH!

I HATE having to rely on benefits to get by but we do what we have to..

I was SO excited to finally get back to work but now I'm depressed because it's not even going to amount to anything. How does ANYONE get ahead anymore?! 😭
