Ontario, Canada specific IVF question

Da

I really don’t know the answer to this question but maybe someone can answer it for me. My husband and I live in Toronto. The Ontario government gives one free round of IVF per person. However, there’s a catch. The waitlist is extremely long. We’ve been on the list for 6 months now. In the interim we did regular cycle monitoring with TI and 2 IUIs. The funding usually comes in in February and you’re notified in April from participating clinics if you’ve been selected. It’s absolutely ridiculous that there’s a waitlist and that they can do this to struggling couples and individuals, but I’m past that angry point now lol.

We contacted our clinic to get a quote about how much it would cost for IVF. They quoted us $14,000 with an additional $5000-6500 in medications. My husband asked a really good question and I don’t know the answer to it. If for whatever reason they don’t retrieve any eggs is there a refund or credit? I never even thought to ask this. Does anyone know?

I know that Procrea (with only 2 participating clinics in Ontario) off The Multi-Cycle Discount Program which allows for the transfer of all resulting embryos when you choose either two or three egg retrievals, as well as an unlimited number of Frozen Embryo Transfers (FETs). Those who qualify may be eligible for:

• Up to a 50% Refund: Patients who choose a two-cycle plan.

• Up to a 100% Refund: Patients who choose a three-cycle plan.

But this would mean we need to switch clinics.
