Are the names too similar?

My husband and I both love the name Brooks if we have a boy this time around. The only problem is that our niece who is 6 her name is Brooklyn(they call her Brooke). We see them every couple of months for holidays and birthdays so my husband doesn’t think it will matter. Would this bother you?! That’s literally the only name we’ve agreed on so far lol

If my name were Brooke and my cousin's name was Brooks, itd probably get real annoying real fast, and vice versa. I'd try hard to find another name. What about using Brooks as a middle name?

Personally I wouldn’t want to use such a similar name to such a close family member.
If I were you I’d leave it on the list, but look hard for a different option. Apps like Kinder might help... easy way to find common ground when a couple has different taste.
