Chemical at 6 weeks?

I am 6 weeks today and yesterday started getting pink blood. Progressed to bright red today and clots, about the size of a 50p piece. No pain at all but went to a&e who took 2 pregnancy tests which were negative, he showed me them and there wasn’t even a slight second line. He told me it looks like a chemical. He’s sending me for a internal scan on Tuesday. Blood flow is now that of a period, isn’t 6 weeks too late for chemical? I was having slight pregnancy symptoms and have 6 very strong pregnancy tests taken over the past 2 weeks. I thought chemical positives were faint?
