Question

I been with someone for 5 years and just a had a baby a year ago and he tell you he never wants to get married.

Some people don’t believe in marriage or think they need a piece of paper to say things are serious. If you’re already a family, are committed to one another, live together, and are doing everything a married couple would do then why do you need someone else to make it official by pronouncing you husband and wife? I wouldn’t mind. But if getting married and having a ceremony is important to you to make your relationship “real” then talk to him about it

This question is confusing for me to answer. I believe in marriage. So yes it would bother me if my significant other didn't want to get married, and I would end the relationship. However, this would have been discussed long before having been with someone for 5 years and having a child together, because it's so important to me, I just wouldn't let it go that far. If it was very important to you, I would think this would have been discussed long ago. I guess my question is, was he talking marriage all along, and now something changed? Or, it really wasn't a priority all this time, and now he's telling you he doesn't want to?  If this didn't bother you for the past 5 years plus having baby, then I'm confused why it would upset you now? But if you have been openly planning marriage all this time and now he just changed his mind, that's a different issue.
