When do you start transitioning to whole milk?

I've heard the transition process takes awhile and you should be at fully whole milk by 1 year, but thought I'd ask what others have done.

I think transition process is for the actual bottle. You can slowly get rid of the bottle and replace it with a sippy cup. Babies shouldn’t have regular milk until 12 months though. At least I think 🤷🏻‍♀️😄.

You can definitely use whole milk in food (oatmeal, mashed potatoes, eggs) but as a drink it could displace formula / breastmilk and lead to iron deficiency (dairy inhibits iron absorption). 
As a drink I think you should talk to your ped but if you want to be formula or breastmilk free by exactly one year then a slow transition starting at 11 months would make sense. I'm not sure but I *think* that's "allowed." Again, talk to your doctor!

With my first, we started introducing him to whole milk in his cup about week or so after his first birthday. He didn’t love it at first, so we had to mix it into his cup with breast milk and then slowly increase the amount of milk. He was completely drinking it after about a week.

My LO has had whole milk in foods, as in his yogurt and what not. Anyways, we would slowly put whole milk mixed with his formula. Example. 6oz bottle, I'd do 1oz milk 5oz formula. Then I'd do 2oz milk 4oz formula, 3oz milk 3oz formula until it was just all milk. All my kids did great. I'm planning to do the same with this LO I will start around 10 1/2 months or so.

You should talk to your pediatrician or child nutritionist if you have any doubts. If you don’t agree with your pediatrician you could get a second opinion. I don’t think we’re qualified to tell you when your baby should start drinking milk, though. It also depends on if your baby has/had any food allergies.

A bit later than 1 year of age. Our ped reccomended I don't start whole milk before they turn 1. Also I breastfed for kind of a long time (not incredebly long just more than I exepected lol😂) with my 2nd and still breastfeeding my twin girls (who are turning 8 months in exactly 1 week!💛)
Everyone gets told different so I suggest you consult your ped, just to be safe and have a proffesional's opinion on this. It's your decision to make in the end anyway so it's important you are well informed and that you are satisfied with your decision.❤️

My Health visitor told me to give her cows milk from 6 months but not as a main source of calcium. I'm not sure if that's right though as I've heard mixed opinions. She's not interested either way.

There was no transition for my boys when their formula ran out I just started giving cows milk so it was just a straight switch with no problems x
