14 weeks today...when did you start buying things?

Question

I still feel like it’s so early but hitting the second trimester today makes it seem like it’s really happening. We have nothing whatsoever besides a couple onesies we received as gifts this weekend. We don’t know the sex of the baby yet but we are supposed to find out on the 29th. When did you start buying clothes and baby things? I know I’ll get some things at a shower as well but like I said we will need absolutely everything and I don’t want to jump the gun.

Congratulations! I personally would look into getting furniture if you need it (e.g., we wanted a dresser/changing table) but otherwise, see if you can wait until after your shower. We got SO much stuff by making a registry, plus lots of gift cards. Maybe invest the time working on the registry instead of buying a lot? Also setting up the room if you have a nursery (e.g., we needed to paint and put up blinds).

I started before I even got pregnant. 😂 I'm not one to pass up a good deal. I've bought mostly all gender neutral, but a few girl things just in case 😉 will buy more once I know the gender.

With my first we didn’t start buying until we had the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Even though I did NIPT I was just paranoid that the gender would be wrong or something would be wrong. 
But my daughter ended up coming 5 weeks early and we were not completely ready. So this time I’m almost 13 weeks, waiting on NIPT results again and will start working on the nursery after results this time. My goal this pregnancy is to hopefully have everything “done” by 30 weeks so if I go early it won’t matter.

We bought a crib and change table so far, but I’m waiting until after our shower to buy anything else we need, if we didn’t receive it.  I started a registry of what we would like, which helped ease my mind for preparation lol.

I start buying big stuff the second I hit second trimester. The weekend after I found it was a girl I bought some clothes. I still have plenty to go but I start buying right away cause I hate feeling unprepared when I get super close. People say to wait tell your shower it but I can tell you no one bought one thing I still needed and I’m not being stranded with nothing when my baby arrives lol

We have very little on our list as this is our third. If baby is a girl we will need a few clothing items because I didn’t keep anything from when my daughter was a baby. We have a handful of random things we need because we have moved twice in the last few years and not everything came with us. I have my list and I keep an eye out for when things are on sale or if a discount code is available. So I buy slowly over the whole pregnancy.

There is alot to get and I prefer to get something each week to make it affordable in the long run. We have brought pram, baby bath and some clothes so far. We already had a bassinet and sheets etc as well. It's exciting going shopping and makes it all so real!

I’m 13 weeks today and we just bought a crib yesterday! We already know the gender from NIPT. Start whenever you feel comfortable.
