If anyone has tips I could really use them. Worried about my boy

So James was told today he has croup and they gave him the dose of medicine for it and it’s supposed to help with the barking cough. It help during the day some but now me and him are still up. He is crying, coughing (bark cough) having trouble sleeping cause he can hardly breath. Right now I have him in his car seat cause it’s the only thing that really keeps him elevated so he can at least breath through his nose. This is the first time we have ever had croup and I don’t know if this is normal even after the steroid medicine. I’m worried and I know my husband is going to think I’m over reacting.
