I need baby paraphernalia guidance!! 😅
I'm a FTM and I'm beyond clueless about purchases for my daughter. (I'm currently 24wks+2—So, my SO and I mercifully have time to figure things out before she arrives.) I'm hoping that some of the more experienced mamas can give me some input on the following major purchases.
CRIB/BASSINET: Initially, I planned to buy a bassinet for my daughter. Now, I'm leaning more towards a mini-crib or even a full sized crib that we'll simply place in our room for those early months. What are your thoughts on mini-cribs? Are they worth it? Or should we just stick to a full sized crib to get the most longterm use? Is there really any meaningful difference in how long a mini-crib can be used?? (It seems like a smaller crib would be outgrown/uncomfortable sooner than a full-sized crib. But, everything I've read suggests that there isn't a difference? 🤔)
CARSEAT: I have my eyes on the Doona! Has anyone here ever used one? I have some issues with my knees and hips that make getting out and about a total nightmare sometimes. I'm drawn to the ease of only having one item I need to remove from the car when I'm out solo with my daughter.
CARRIERS/WRAPS: What kind do you guys like to use the most? I'm drawn to the wraps and pouch shirts, but I can see myself getting flustered and annoyed with the wrapping process. (Plus, it makes me a little nervous! If we go the wrap route, I'm definitely going to practice using them with my small dogs before I try to put my daughter into one. 😂) I'm interested in the structured carriers (ie, the front-facing "backpack" style carriers) too... my main goal is baby wearing and being able to still do daily tasks with both hands as much as possible. I'm a little conflicted about what the best way to go here is, just in case you can't tell! Lol
