I had both. HSG test is used with dye and x-ray machine to identify if there are any blocks in your fallopian tubes. SHG test is saline solution through an ultrasound to identify any polyps or fibroids. Both caused light cramping during the procedure. An hour later I was back to my normal routine after both procedures.

I think one is saline and one is dye. I had the saline sonogram. Most painful part is the speculum. I did have pretty bad cramping a few hours after and into the next day. They recommend taking ibuprofen before the procedure. It’s actually pretty neat though. You see how open your tubes are, if there’s any scarring, cysts, or polyps. They’ll tell you everything while looking.

That’s awesome! It’s really not bad. Little pain after. But totally worth it. Best wishes to you!!!
