Crawling, but not sitting?

I thought sitting had to come before crawling? My little man is doing a mix of actual crawling and army crawling, but still can’t keep his balance when sitting. Once he tries to reach for something, he tumbles over. Should I be concerned? He is 7 months in a few days.

All babies are different! Around 4.5 months my son started sitting up assisted and leaning on his hands but he had only rolled over a handful of times and then stopped completely. He mastered sitting up a little after 5 months & I kid you not the day after he sat by himself, he started rolling over. Babies usually only master one skill at a time and once they get the hang of whatever they are working on, they move on to the next skill!

My baby is the same. She still tripods to sit but is army crawling. I think part of the reason is lack of patience, she can explore better by crawling and rolling, when I try to sit her up she normally rolls out to grab at something.

Same here!  Once she started crawling she figured out how to get into a sort of sitting position, and is getting much better at it. Mine will be 7 months on the 29th

Our girl is the same way!! Just turned 7 months and is starting to get a little better at sitting! ☺️

Sitting only normally comes 1st because parents tent to put their babies in that position. If baby was left they would move and then be able to sit themselves up. I wouldn’t worry it takes a lot of strength and balance to crawl xx
