IUD- ( Who has had one before?)

Question

Before my pregnancy I took BC pills this time around I did the IUD. I feel a little nervous about it since it’s in there and you don’t do anything. Is it pretty effective? Do you still pull out or use condoms, too? I’m so nervous about having another kid soon and would like to prevent it, but also have sex with my hubby and not be nervous.

Just had my third IUD installed this past week. I love them, best decision I ever made for my body: never worry about pregnancy (they are significantly more effective than anything else other than abstinence) and for me I also never get a period. 
You shouldn’t need to worry about pulling out or using condoms for birth control purposes.

Getting it put in postpartum is a MUCH different (easier!) experience than getting it put in before you ever have a baby. Your cervix will still be fairly soft/open. I barely felt it when I got mine. And no, you don’t need to pull out with an IUD! I mean, nothing is 100% effective, but pulling out is not going to make the IUD any more effective than it already is.

It’s one of the most effective forms of birth control. Supposedly effective from the moment it is put in. I‘m getting one on Monday but am so freaked out about it. The receptionist said some people even faint after getting it put in???

Had one and it ended up causing me a lot of pelvic and abdominal pain.. If it weren't for that, I would have really liked it.

Yes I had it, it's effective. Unfortunately I had a really bad experience when they put it in, after I had cramps that was explained to me as if being in labor, which now I know how similar the pain was. I had to get it removed about 6 months later because it got implanted in my cervix, which is bad. I won't be doing that again. But you're good to go if you have it.
