Does a teething baby have sleep issues?

My 4 month old sprouted her first tooth this week. She was sleeping through the night pretty well in her crib. Now all of a sudden she’s waking up almost every hour. Is this normal? Will it get back to normal?

Yes usually teething pain is worse at night.  Theres also a developmental leap at 4 months so those combined can definitely mess up sleep.

It will! My baby got her first tooth the day she turned 4 months. It was actually two teeth at once. she hit the four month sleep regression as well around that time, up every 60-90 minutes. Then she got a double ear infection and refused to sleep anywhere but in my arms in my bed. She got better and two days later caught another cold and got another ear infection. Again refusing to sleep in her own bed. Then we battled cold after cold for 2-3 months. Finally I had enough of her sleeping with me, I wasn’t sleeping at all. At 7 months I laid her in her crib to cry it out, we tried before but she would cry for 45-60 minutes straight and not sleep. I laid her down and she screamed, I walked out and went back in after 3 minutes, left her in her crib and talked to her for a minute, rubbing her back telling her she’s okay and I love her, left for five minutes, went back in for another minute and did the same thing, then left for 10 minute increments and went in to calm her down. After 45 minutes she was sleeping. Slept 8:30 pm-5am not waking once. Second night she cried for 28 minutes, 3rd night 14, 4th night 3 minutes. Now she cries for 5 minutes max, if at all, and she out. She occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night and I rub her back until she’s back to sleep. It gets better, stick to your guns, it’s tough but it will get better!
