Time off from work
So a few days ago a coworker asked me when I was going to return to work. I guess my boss had mentioned my maternity leave was up March 2 (8w short term leave bc of c section)
I’m not ready to go back.
My company has now added an extra 2 weeks (bonding time) which can be taken immediately after maternity leave or I can take it any time up to 6 months after birth. Well knowing my boss May not approve my time off If I chose to wait. I decided I am going to take it right after maternity leave.
FMLA allows me to be out of work up to 12w so they said I could take another 2w after unpaid but luckily I have vacation that rolled over so I will still be paid.
Now they will submit paperwork and send info to my manager. I’m thinking she is going to be upset and makes me not want to go up there to see them and show her my baby. I don’t want to be guilted into coming back sooner. I’m really enjoying this time off with my toddler and newborn and whole family. Working retail for so long I miss out on stuff with family. Especially weekend events.
I’m even more relaxed and stress free. Then when I go back to work I’m dept lead so I’ll have to deal with so much stress.
Is it wrong for me to want to take off the full 12 weeks?
