Booster seat ready?

Does anyone know the weight and requirements for booster seats? Me and my husband are about to have our 3rd baby and I drive a Kia soul. Which most definitely can NOT fit 3 car seats in it. So I was wondering if my 4 year old met the requirements for a booster.

Just rear face two and have one forward facing, I had a Similar sized car and I fit one infant seat, and one read facing car seat and one forward facing car seat. It was snug but much safer then putting a 4 year old into a booster.

Also, even IF your child meets all those recommended requirements, a 5 point harness is still a safer choice if they are still within the max height/weight limits for their harnessed seat. There are plenty of smaller seats that can fit 3 across in most cars and keep your child harnessed as long as possible.

Our niece is in a 5 point booster of sorts and she’s 8.

We are in Florida.  And she weights 40lbs now. She's pretty good at making sure her belt on her carseat is where it is supposed to be at all times. But I wanted to make sure if the requirements before doing because if not we have to start looking about trading my car in

In California it’s 40 pounds 4 years old but if your child hasn’t exceeded the one they have I would honestly not change them it’s so much safer, depending on the child height as well you probably want to get one with a back so the seatbelt is properly adjusted

Legally the requirements for boosters vary by location, but according to Child Passenger Safety Technicians your 4 year old is NOT ready as one of the suggested requirements is that the child be at least 5 years old. They also recommend your child be at least 40lbs, meet the requirements for whichever booster you plan to use, have the seatbelt fit well while in the booster, and most importantly mature enough to sit properly with the seatbelt in place 100% of the time every time.

Has your child exceeded the weight/height requirements of their current seat? If not, you shouldn’t switch.
