How long did it take to get your registered marriage license in the mail after marriage?

Were in CA. Our minister was not very thorough on this. He just said something about going tomorrow to get it registered then I'll get something in the mail? It's been 4 days since we've married. Then after I get that. What are the next steps that I need to do? I opted for a name change but not sure where to go from here. Thanks so much!

Got mine less than a week later but it also depends on the county and mail system as some are slow. But once you get it you go get social, drivers license, bank and other stuff updated to new last name/address etc.

We are in Texas and got married in Texas. We took the marriage license from our wedding back to the county clerk's office and it was ready like maybe a week later. We went and picked up the marriage certificate when it was ready and I went straight to the social security office to change my name.

6 weeks but we got married in Alaska

When my husband and I got married the officiant gave us the license. My husband took it (the day of) to the clerk of courts to get recorded. They gave the official seal & recorded it the same day. So I find this very odd. However, we live in Florida so maybe things are different.

They don’t send you anything - at least they don’t in Michigan. 
If you want an official copy you have to go to the friend of the court. The copy provided & signed at your ceremony is enough to change your name with Social Security, your ID, bank, & credit cards.
