How do you get your baby to sleep through the night?

My daughter never has! What do you do that works?

I’m going to preface this with every child is different and not everything works for every child
Night waking multiple times is common till 2-3 years old even if it’s not ideal
My first sttn starting at 11 months consistently he was an easy baby in every aspect now he’s a sassy mouthed 5 year old he pushes all the limits daily
My December baby is not an easy baby he’s fussy, demanding, does not sttn etc no matter what we try or have tried the only way I get sleep is to co sleep he has his own surface sidecar to my bed we follow safe sleep protocols I get more sleep now he only wakes maybe 2x and goes back down easy with nursing. 
I wish I had advice other than its normal it’s such a short time we will get to sleep one day :)

We used sleep associations from day 1 - same bedtime routine (bath/bottle) and white noise all through the night. As soon as she learnt to self soothe, we ensured she could do this if she woke during the night (she just uses a dummy so we have lots available in the crib) and she's pretty much slept through from 6 months.
Occasionally she'll wake, usually if she's unwell or teething, but for the most part she's a great sleeper.

What we’ve done since 8 weeks old is put her in her own room in the crib. Our bedtime routine was this:
Diaper change and pjs in very dim lighting. 
Warm bottle in almost full darkness. 
Then bed. 
With it being dark, it made her very sleepy. Some nights she would fall asleep while having her bottle but most nights we put her down still awake but very drowsy. Our rule was if she’s crying for longer than 5-10 mins than we would bring her back out but keeping it dark. But luckily we didn’t have too many nights where she would cry for too long. Now that shes older, we let her cry for 15 mins max. Again, rarely cry’s longer than that. Actually 95% of the time we don’t hear a peep out of her once she’s in the crib.

My sons slept through the night maybe handful of times seems like the older he gets the worse he sleeps 3-8 months was his best sleeping I miss it
