My son just wants to suck on food, not chew

When will he start to actually do chewing motions? I gave him a slice of pear today and he literally sucked half of it in and then spit it out..but that scared the shit out of me. It could've been sucked right to the back of his throat and lodged. I just have way too much anxiety for this guys 😂

I am at fault for not giving him real food every meal, I started doing a mix of purees & real food to help my fear. For example, I'd feed him baby food green beans and let him "eat" aka suck..on a banana after. Let me know your experiences if your baby sucked on everything..and how long until they started chewing.
