Car seats for newborn?

Did anyone just buy a convertible car seat from the start for their newborn? Most of them say 5lbs and up. If so which one did you use?

We were gifted a carseat after insisting that we didnt want it I used it once for my 6 week pp check up the nurse ended up holding my son so I didnt even need it then. This time around we are just using a convertible straight away.

We’ve used the Graco SlimFit from birth. We had an infant seat in my husband’s car and baby always preferred his convertible.

You can definitely do that, the only thing is before the baby can support his/her head, you'll need to carry the baby and diaper bag, keys etc, lock up the house and maneuver the baby into the car while supporting the head. That's the part that I wasn't comfortable doing. I'm a minimalist, but did get both seats.

Yes, I prefer to buy convertible from the get go. I just baby wore everywhere we went and we saved a ton not buying two car seats! We will be doing the same for our second.

We got a Britax Marathon and it has been great for us. In our other vehicle we have a Britax Allegiance. Both really easy to install and seem very comfortable.
